Dawie Fourie

Dawie is best known as an elephant artist. He loved the veld and wildlife for as long as he can remember. After school and military service he worked in Air Traffic Control for two years before studying Nature Conservation. He worked in Nature conservation and veterinary research before starting a full-time career in art 28 years ago. He has maintained his involvement with conservation over the last 28 years. He has conservation projects registered at Mpumalanga Parks Board and National Parks Board.

Even though Dawie paints in many different mediums including Acrylics, Watercolour, Graphite, Pencil, Charcoal, Ink and Alkyds his preferred medium is Oils. He had 6 solo exhibitions, took part in 28 group exhibitions in such as: France, Dubai and the USA, and had 6 private exhibitions in South Africa, France, Spain and USA. Dawie has work in more than 40 countries on 6 continents. Work in major collections includes South African Breweries, Bank of Canada, President Joachim Chissano (Former President of Mozambique), Coca Cola Company, Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club, South African National Parks and the Harber Wildlife Museum Texas, USA.

Over the last 2 years Dawie has donated, through the sale of his paintings, more than $70000- (more than R1milj) to conservation.
