Mattie Joubert

I started painting as a little girl under the expert eye of my mother and developed my own style which I can describe as realism. I enjoy landscapes and portraits and prefer oils as it is a very challenging, but rewarding medium. I am inspired by the work of the British artist Edward Seago and many other South African artists such as Willie Jacobs.

Painting was always seen by me as my hobby, but I was fortunate to retire after a professional career and be in a position to live my passion. I started an art centre in Vereeniging, South Africa called “Die Duif “ which houses my personal studio, an art school and a studio for larger workshops that we also use for exhibitions from time to time.
